Who Knew?

After living a life of despair,

struggling so long gasping for air,

You often think life isn’t fair,

In this capitalist world, 

Does anyone care?

I thought all my experiences made me numb,

I made a few choices that definitely were dumb. 

Always though, I lived by one rule of thumb,

Be careful about those you choose to love,

Because living without them is never enough. 

Loving someone else for some is hard to do,

Because the first person you must love is you. 

But once you find someone you love so true

You soon forget at one point you were two. 

Life together sometimes is a mess,

But happy together because we’re truly blessed. 

Individuals forever we will remain,

But together as one we have everything to gain.
