Jamaica, Our Legacy
Filled from top to bottom of many races.
Though we may have different morals, creeds and
faces
We all need to be united to quell our
disturbances.
Yes we know there is a problem with crime,
But be honest, it was there all the time.
Some think it should be fixed by government,
But without our input there will be no
improvement.
We all need to stand together,
We all need o be each other’s keeper.
Stand together and be strong,
Any other way is totally wrong.
Look at our many faces,
Amongst us we have the best resources.
We may not have much infrastructure,
But if we focused on the right things,
Greatness during our offspring’s life it might
bring.
We have great minds amidst us,
Limited not by what we think we can’t do,
But by what we do not have access to.
Our people are great at adapting,
We’ve cracked every system,
Because we always have to be improvising.
Try and try again ‘til we get it working.
Plants, flower, trees to the farthest reaches.
To take care of what we have is another story,
Because to make the quick buck brings companies
the glory.
Forget about our environment, trees and seas,
Dump your industrial wastes and see if anyone
cares.
We have all the makings of a great nation,
We just need to put in place some controls with
great determination.
Determined to live, to better ourselves, to
prosper.
But our greatest problem is corruption.
Though we have our problems,
Though we have our tribulations,
We need to start the change with us,
Because like you … I am proud to be Jamaican.
