Our Meeting

I was down and out,
Then one day you came about.
I was about to walk by,
‘Til you caught my attention and I said ‘hi’.

I was on my way to nowhere,
Until I noticed you looking at me queer.
Curiosity got the better of me
So I chose to find out
What this look was about.

You sat there talking and smiling with your friend,
And I saw no need to try to make it end.
But I needed to find out
Before I went on my way again.

We started talking,
‘Til before we knew it,
We were sky-larking.
Laughing and joking,
And occasionally there was some poking.

Before the end of our conversation,
You said something that gave me the notion,
That you were no ordinary catch,
Amongst the vast choices of the ocean.

Greater still grew my curiosity.
Ahead! I thought without delay.
Somehow … maybe … is there a possibility
That all this time I knew you,
Without realising how perfect you are for me?

Ponder, ponder,
Frozen in time I begin to wonder.
How should I proceed?
How far should I venture?
Should I rush ahead now?
Or think these thoughts over?

My mood has changed,
My interest has deepened.
I read your body’s language
And liked what it said.
Finally someone that didn’t want to take me straight to bed.

In you I saw a challenge,
In you I saw no threat.
In you I saw a beautiful woman,
Who I wanted in my life.
Who knows …………
Maybe someday I will ask you to be my wife.
